Total Destruction

Does anyone know what that means? It is from the DEMOLITION DERBY baby!! Yep. a couple of nights ago, Wes and I and his family, went out to the Chelsea Communty Fair and watched the Demolition Derby. Wes and I have been going out there for the last 4-5 years. This was his families first time for going. If you have never been to a derby before, it is an experience.
I had my first experience when I was in high school, the small town of Lewistown has them through out the summer and then of course at the end of thier town fair. So that is what we did on the last fair night, you go to the derby. It is great. So it got into my BLOOD!!
I did not go to one for quite some time, and then a friend told me about the ones they have here in Chelsea I think like 5 years ago. Oh man, I was so there. Wes and I have gone to like 2 nights in a row at the fair to the derby's just cuz they are great. We have really enjoyed going to them.
So of course you have to get the to the fair and get yourself a good spot to sit. Wes' parents had gotten there earlier and had gotten us some good seats. We put our blankets down and then went to get Fair food. I got a corn dog and then french fries.
It is almost time to start. Oh I can't wait. Well the first heat starts and they are off. LOAD noise and dirt flying. So much fun!! Can you believe it a chick won the first heat.
See the object of the derby is to be the last car running, well not really running, but you must be the last car still moving. Oh man. some of these cars are rough looking and just can't even drive out of the rink. They have to have tractors push or pull them out. It is awesome to watch.
There were 3 car heats and then there was a truck heat. Dude, I have never seen a truck heat before. Talk about a vehicle that was made to last. A truck lasts. I think the heat went on for like 10-15mins. all the trucks were going strong and smashing into each other and hitting each other, mud flying all over the place. YIPEE!! I think the best I have seen yet. ;0) Here is a picture of the truck that lasted. It was funny, because all the drivers were waving him off when he was the last truck, becuase they did not want to take any more hittings. Just great it was.
then came the featured heat. The top 5 finishers in the other 3 heats compete in this feature heat. It is TOTAL DISTRUCTION and the last one moving is the WINNER. Man, some of the cars were not moving very fast at all, if moving at all. there were some fires in the cars, which of course there are firemen around. This is a very safe sport. There are firemen and refs telling you when you are almost out or when to shut down. When you have not hit a moving vehicle in a few minutes then the refs give you a warning and if still nothing, then you are told to shut down and you stay in your car until the derby is off.
If you ever get a chance to go see one, please go. It is a blast. have not met anyone yet that does not like it. Just a blast to watch people bash old cars into each other.
SO here are some pictures of the fun time.

This is Wes' family. his parents, Jim and Melva. The twins, Brittany in the back and Adrienne in the front and of course, my handsome husbsand.

Here is my Honey and Me. Ready for the fun
