Still working on it

It has been a little over a week and a half now, that we have been working on keeping Little man in his toddler bed. We started on Wednesday before Thanksgiving, having him sleep in the bed at night time. NO problems, he goes right down.

We are still working on naps. It can still take me an hour to get him to settle down and go to sleep. Today he is making me laugh again. (pretty common around here) I have told him to stay in his bed, for the last 15 mins. He is doing pretty good at staying in his bed, but is some how able to reach a bunch of toys to play with and will throw his blanket off the bed and reach, while still on the bed for it arms first. He is still getting off the bed, but other times, he is maneuvering his body a round to get things, while he is technically obeying mommy of "Stay on your bed".

I just stood at the door and watched him, his feet head down first, he looks over at me and gets both feet as close as he can to the floor, but is still on his bed. He never touches the ground and is not "off his bed" he dangles his legs and feet and pulls them back up and keeps looking to see if I am there and then gives me a big smile. If I say, "Stay on your bed and lay down". He pulls himself back up on his bed and lays there and laughs.

I WANT TO KNOW!!! WHERE DID HE LEARN THIS!!!??? I don't play on my bed like this. He is not around other kids when it is time for bed, so he has never seen another child do this. He is playing and testing the limits with mom. Unbelievable. I am a little upset, but most of all I just sit here and also stand and watch him in amazement, and think, "Child, where did this come from? How did you learn how to play this 'game'?" He is only 15 months.

It is a reminder to me, he got it from Adam and Eve. He was born with this sin nature that he doesn't have to be taught bad things, it is just there. It is my job as a mom to train him and discipline him, until he is able to make a decision for Christ to change his behavior. I pray and look forward to the day I can see my child choose to receive Christ and realize he can be free from his flesh. But I also realize what a HUGE responsibility I have as a parent to train him in God's ways. Wow, I can't and don't want to do this alone. I need to be before the Heavenly Father constantly looking for wisdom and guidance to be able to train my children.

Sorry got a little heavy there at the end, but God is good to use children to draw us to himself. Even funny stories of my son trying to reach as far as he can while on his bed, has showed me my continual need for Christ in raising him.

Here are some pics of Monkey in his big boy bed!!

Our cheesehead. He loves to play on his bed and be on his bed until it is nap time.

Ready to head outside. Ready for the cold!

He's getting so big Jodi! Just wait until you have two to chase around... it's going to be fun!!

He doesn't need someone to teach him to push the limits. It's their very nature that tells them to try it. Hang in there!

Are you taking pictures to monitor your growing belly like you did with Landon? I would love to see some before and now if you are! Praying for you and new baby Carter in these coming months. Happy New Year!
