ER

Late Friday afternoon Little Man fell and knocked his mouth on our stereo. He immediately started bleeding everywhere from his mouth and screaming. I tried to calm him down along with trying to calm myself and keep the blood form going everywhere. Getting wet paper towel to press against his lip and also looking to see what had really happened. His lip started to swell pretty fast. I put him on the counter(I was holding him) and he saw some cookies I had made, he went to take one and put it in his mouth as he is settling down, I tell him no and took it away and he got upset. I still don't know if he got more upset over me telling him no to the cookie or the pain in his mouth. It was a whirlwind and happened all so fast.
Since I am a first time mom and have never had this happen, I did not know what to do. I could see a cut in his mouth that looked pretty good, so do I take him to ER, don't you know it was at 5pm, when the Dr was closed. All the questions in my head and a screaming child and blood still coming.
I decide to head to ER, my MIL met me, which was very nice. Little Man screamed the whole way to ER. As soon as we walked into ER and he saw the ladies at the desk, he laughed and smiled with his fat lip. I wasn't sure if I should stay or go home. If you are a parent and have ever had a trip to ER you know that mouth injuries are not that big of a deal and really there is nothing they will do. So we had triage and found out Little man's weight since the beginning of June. He weighs 21.7 lbs. Wait, Wait, finally get taken back to a room, wait, wait, wait and wait. Finally a PA comes in and says there is nothing that can be done. We wait to get our discharge papers and finally we leave after 5 hours. Not a fun night and will really think through before I go to ER again. I have a feeling this will not be the last time I might have to decide to go to ER.
We headed home and Little Man is doing well. It was an experience, not one I want to have any time soon again.
Sorry, I did not think to grab my camera or take pictures while it was happened. Sorry.

So sorry you had to go through this! It's always hard to know what's an emergency and what's not but it's better to be safe then sorry. Hang in there, nothing comes easy when you're a parent ;o)
