Today is my Grandpa's birthday. I do not know how hold my grandpa is,
well, becuase he is my grandpa. :0)
My grandpa is a quiet man, has a very funny sense of humor and is
a great man of God.
He use to be in the Navy and even, now
at the age of 26 years old, I still have not heard a lot of stories from him.
He does not have a lot of words, but when he speaks, ALL listen.
He has been a pastor for as long as I can remember.
My family and I, when I was growing up went to a lot of the churches he pastored.
he is an AMAZING teacher of the word of God.
God has defintily given him a gift for interpretting the bible.
Here are some thing I remember about my grandpa for growing up:
He always had Trident gum in his office desk. It always seemed like he was chewing gum
and he could pop bubbles in his mouth!!
Some times grandpa would let us have some of his gum and we would try and pop our gum like him in our mouths and just never could.
Grandpa was awesome.
He office,(i think he has always had an office in his home) has ALWAYS been messy.
And not just a few papers here and there,
but papers everywhere. He was a good sport about it and never seemed to get
bothered when someone would say someting about it.
He would just smile and it is more like a smerk.
Grandpa has always smiled!! Not a huge teeth smile, but a little curl of his mouth upward.
Another thing I remember is when I was younger, i think like 2nd grade or something,
I had this swearing problem, you know 'BAD' words. Well, my parents had tried everything and then they decided to take me to my grandpa and see if he could help me.
The story is not totally clear to me, but I do remember having to go to my grandpa's either every morning or somthing like that before school or once a week, and talk to him about the bad words I had said. He would put me on his lap, (i don't really remember alot about my childhood) I think and then would talk to me about those words. Wow, you try telling your grandpa and a pastor the 'BAD' words you had said. It was rough. I did not want to disappoint my grandpa or tell him.
I think it cured me pretty fast. Like I said I don't remember a whole lot, but I do know I went to his house and had to talk to him. I think he even prayed with me.
There are other stories that I remember, like my family and I lived with my grandparents for a little while, and grandpa never seemd to get mad.
Now it was not just him and grandma in the house but 3 teenage girls and at other times, my other 2 cousins, there was at one time 10 people living in my granparents home.
We would use to sit down and eat a big lunch together and his big thing were table manners. or Etiquite. The food must always pass the same direction. Those were fun times. We have always had lots fo laughter in the Snyder house, alot in my grandparents house.
Of course you never sit in grandpa's chair. :) or mess with the remote if he is in the room.
Grandpa, I love you very much. Thank you for being the man you are, for training your children to walk with God and them training thier kids to walk with the Lord.
you are a man of God and have lead the Snyder family very well.
i love you very much and Thank you for all the help you gave me as a child and the example you have set for your family to watch and grow from and most importantly to walk and have a relationship with God.
Have a great birthday!!!
